Opening Libyan airspace to international carriers will give a significant boost to the country’s economy. Direct international flights will enhance Libya’s business effectiveness and reputation. Air travel has proven to be a key contributor to GDP growth in countries around the world, and Tripoli is ideally located as a potential hub airport interconnecting Europe, the Middle East and the Americas.
This study was completed during 2016, prior to Aireon space based ADSB and Remote Digital Towers coming to market to help provide a solution. The study itself remains informative for the purposes of providing a basic understanding of airspace management and the challenges Libya has in returning aviation carriers.
